Andy Carroll of West Ham United celebrates after scoring his sides second goal with his West Ham United team mates during the Premier League match between West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion at London Stadium on January 2, 2018 in London, England.
West Brom say the reason Jake Livermore confronted a West Ham fan was because of a comment made about the death of his infant son.
West Ham United said it meant to take swift action and is considering implementing a stadium ban over the incident.
West Ham, upon examining the available CCTV footage have identified the fan involved in the altercation and the fan may be banned if found guilty.

Livermore tested positive for cocaine while at Hull City in May 2015, nearly a year after his son's death, and the FA decided not to ban him because of "the unique nature of circumstances" involved. I feel good, obviously to score in the last minute was a relief for the lads and relief for myself. He was hurt by the situation as you'd imagine. You take that out of my life and you're basically taking away me as a person.
I love my family more than life itself. He said: "I didn't know about it, but I've been told something happened".
I was broken. Most people out there will have a son, a nephew, a little brother. The entire bottom half of the Premier League could all go down as there are only a few points separating all the teams. If I was thinking with a cool head I would have asked for time off. I think I have made an impact when I have done that, but it is not really what I want to do.
That is a mind which isn't clear. Knowing that people who I trusted to care for me and my baby and to ensure that we were safe throughout my labour, did not pick up the warning signs that Jake Junior was in distress is hard for me to accept. Both will be key to West Brom's survival but neither man is able to string a run of games together.
Entering the stands is always treated very seriously, though West Ham has announced it will investigate the incident from its end.
