Trump Justice Department Now Probing Clinton Foundation

The investigation is based out of the FBI field offices in Little Rock, Arkansas, and at least one witness has already been investigated, according to the Hill's John Salomon, who first reported the inquiry.

Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano on Friday said some Clinton Foundation donors could be in jeopardy for taking tax breaks that the Clinton Foundation wasn't allowed to register.

A spokesperson for Clinton bashed the investigation, telling CNN it was a "sham".

The move comes as President Trump has long called for prosecution of Clinton, his rival in the 2016 election, and GOP lawmakers since have echoed his demands for more Clinton investigations as the Russian Federation probe of Trump and his own campaign heats up. The reference to "matters now under investigation" is referring to the Clinton Foundation probe.

The FBI has been quietly investigating the Clinton Foundation for months, to see if any donations were made to the foundation linked to official acts when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, according to The Washington Post.

Department Of Health Reports Nine Flu-Related Deaths
The report issued for the week ending December 30 lists seven deaths, bringing the total to 20 for this flu season. Widespread means that more than 50 percent of geographic regions within a US state are reporting flu activity.

Both as a candidate and during his time in office, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called for an inquiry into his former political rival.

Foundation spokesman Craig Minassian told The Hill that "time after time, the Clinton Foundation has been subjected to politically motivated allegations, and time after time these allegations have been proven false". "That is a fundamental violation of law and that does appear to have happened". The Justice Department reportedly told the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a meeting it "wouldn't authorize more aggressive investigative techniques, such as subpoenas, formal witness interviews, or grand-jury activity". "This is a philanthropy that does life-changing work, which Republicans have tried to turn into a political football", Merrill said.

Nick Merrill, a spokesman for Ms Clinton, said the probe's goal was to "distract from the indictments, guilty pleas, and accusations of treason from [US President Donald] Trump's own people at the expense of our justice system's integrity".

"It's just a message of 'hold right now until after the elections - no subpoenas issued, no interviews, '" one law enforcement official familiar with the thinking told CNN at the time. "It continues with (Attorney General) Jeff Sessions doing Trump's bidding by heeding his calls to meddle with a department that is supposed to function independently".
