A winter storm warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected.
Two things are noticeable: The wind has picked up Thursday afternoon, and the temperature has dropped down, falling to 5 degrees above zero.
The trend continues as we head into the weekend and now the potential for snow begins to mix with the cold.
The event will contain blowing and drifting snow and bitter cold temperatures after the snow ends. Forecast models have the snow showers moving out by midnight EST Saturday.
Health officials urge people to get flu vaccine
Reports of flu are now widespread throughout the state, according to the California Department of Public Health. Officials said Influenza A viruses continue to be the predominant circulating strains.
The heaviest snowfall rates will appear on Friday and Friday night. Lows will fall around 0 tonight with wind chills around -15 to -25. The temperature is expected to drop to a low around 13 Saturday night with winds of 8 to 10 miles per hour.
Between 2-4 inches of snow is expected for coastal Southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape and Islands, with up to five inches possible for the Outer Cape, 1-2 inches for coastal Rhode Island and CT, while a dusting to an inch is expected elsewhere along and south of the Mass Pike.
Friday: Mostly cloudy with a 100 percent chance for snow.
