"Actually she has a large family who were always there with her and for her", tweeted Markle's older sibling, Samantha Grant, one of two children of Markle's father and his first wife.

On Christmas Day, Samantha had also tweeted about the book she's writing that pertains to her childhood with Meghan, saying: "Excited for my book coming out and wait until you see what our home life was like!".

Meghan Markle is on the road to becoming even more prim and proper as she prepares to marry into the British royal family on 19 May 2018, and her New Year's resolutions prove she's well on her way. She always did. Our dad is fantastic and completely self-sacrificing.

In her first public appearance with the Queen, Meghan walked arm-in-arm with Harry for the short distance from the royals' estate, Sandringham House, in Norfolk, to the morning church service at St Mary Magdalene Church. "How fun it was!"

The Queen noted in her annual Christmas message that the family was looking forward "to welcoming new members into it next year".

Meghan's lifestyle blog called Tig was hugely popular until she finished it in April as her relationship with Harry became more serious. 'I've been working on my show seven years, we were so fortunate to have that longevity, and I feel like I checked that box and am very proud of the work I've done there, ' she told the BBC.

It was no doubt a hard holiday for Doria, who was away from her daughter while she rubbed elbows with Queen Elizabeth and company at Sandringham.

It's only been a few weeks since their official engagement announcement, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle already have a bit of a scandal on their hands.

The interview with Sarah Montague came at the end of Wednesday's Today programme, which the prince had edited and included interviews with former US President Barack Obama and Prince Charles.

It's no surprise however that the young royal is looking forward to next year.

Aside from the royal wedding, Harry and Markle will be kept busy next year.

"[Markle] has made the decision that she wants to start with a clean slate and focus on the United Kingdom".
