"Cat scan shows Erica suffered major brain damage from a lack of oxygen while in cardiac arrest", the tweet said.

You can nearly say that the day the NY police officer took Eric Garner's life unnecessarily with a vicious chokehold in Staten Island in 2014, he also squeezed out most of the life of his daughter Erica.

The oldest daughter of Eric Garner, the African-American man who was placed in a chokehold by a police officer, has been declared brain dead with no chance of recovery. Garner became an outspoken critic of police brutality following her father's death on Staten Island in 2014. The elder Garner died after being put in a chokehold by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo after the 43-year-old argued with officers upon being approached for suspicion of selling loose cigarettes.

After giving birth in August, Garner suffered her first heart attack.

"Right now, the family is just praying and asking for everyone to keep her in their prayers", said Snipes, who is Eric Garner's widow.

Particular climate assertion issued for Christmas
While no further snowfall is expected Monday, gusting winds could continue to keep visibility poor on the roads. Poronaysk, with a population of just 16,000, is expected to be blanketed by 50 cm of snow on Christmas Day .

But a grand jury in NY declined to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo, who used the chokehold while attempting to arrest Garner for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes outside a Staten Island store.

She has been in a coma since then, it said.

Public reaction to Garner's death contributed to the mounting national outrage of police brutality and helped foment the Black Lives Matter movement. Below we feature Erica Garner, in her own words, from her interviews on Democracy Now!
