Amazon's Prime Video app was the most downloaded of any tvOS app ever in its first seven days.
Earlier this month, Prime Video app was finally released for Apple TV.
What is not known is how many times the app has been downloaded leading it to break the record or the app and its record that was broken.
Amazon Prime Video for Apple TV and iPhone and iPad is a free download from the App Store. The reason is because neither device offered easy access to Amazon Prime Video experience, which is extremely important to Amazon. The online retail giant has sold out of the set-top box merely hours after resuming direct sales of the Apple TV.
Frustrated with Google, Amazon may be making a YouTube competitor
The TV Answer Man has asked Amazon's press office for a comment and will report back here if we receive one. Google is also upset that Amazon will not permit its Amazon Video service to be offered on Chromecast.
"Globally, Amazon Prime Video saw its largest week of iOS downloads ever during the week of December 3rd through 9th, 2017 seeing well over 550,000 iOS downloads", App Annie told TechCrunch.
This update comes with app version 5.1 for the devices running iOS 11. In a nutshell, the users of different Apple platforms were eagerly waiting for this app to made available so they can freely use it without any obstacles. The same app is now widely available to nearly all the platforms and for that very same reason, Apple too has allowed the app for all the iOS and other tvOS users including the Apple TV.
