Less than one week ago, the Cleveland Browns would release Kenny Britt.

The Patriots announced Wednesday the free agent wide receiver had been signed by the team.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the decision was pretty quick.

Britt signed a four-year $32.5-million dollar contract with the Browns this offseason.

In theory, Britt will have a far better chance to earn a significant role with the Patriots heading into next year. In nine games with Cleveland this season, he amassed 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns before being waived last Thursday. He had a career season in 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams, catching 68 passes for 1,002 yards with five scores.

He got too many times for us to say. "For me as a quarterback, I want to be in that position with the ball in my hand", he said. It was the first of three turnovers, an area Carolina has struggled with all season, but greatly benefited from on Sunday.

McCourty went to Rutgers, as well. Cassius Marsh and Ricky Jean Francois are other veteran names that have already cycled through this year alone.

"Brady had success throwing to Danny Amendola, who had six catches on nine targets for 76 yards, but he had serious trouble throwing to outside weapons Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan". Britt could prove to be a strong asset in both the red zone and as a legitimate deep threat.

A second-team AP All-Pro last season, Cannon played in seven of the first eight games but missed the last five with an ankle injury. He has played for San Francisco (2009-12), Indianapolis (2013-14), Washington (2015-16) and Green Bay (2017). He was inactive in Weeks 10-14. He appeared in one game and made two tackles.

New England will break a tie with the Chicago Bears and have the most active Rutgers alums on its roster after Britt signs. Freeny spent time with Baltimore and Jacksonville after being released by New England.
