This year's class is predominantly made up of older acts; Bon Jovi is the only band from this year's crop to have started their career after the 70's.
Bon Jovi has been eligible to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2008 and has only been nominated once before, in 2011.
The Moody Blues' frontman Justin Hayward has shared his delight as the British rockers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. In addition, the late Sister Rosetta Tharpe will be honored with an Early Influence award.

Facebook says they will roll out the new tax structure through 2018 with the completion date to be mid-2019. Facebook paid just £5.1m in corporation tax in 2016, according to a Companies House filing.
To be eligible for induction, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of induction (for 2018, that would be 1992).
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018 Inductions ceremony will be held on April 14, in Cleveland. Bon Jovi were nominated for the second time, and won the fan ballot with over one million votes.
The ceremony will premiere on TV network HBO and will be broadcast via SiriusXM, with further details to be announced in due course.
Ballots were sent to an global voting body of more than 1,000 artists, including current living inductees, historians and members of the music industry. And to the 12 inducted artists that did not get the nod, as well as the long, long list of deserving artists who continue to get snubbed (that's another conversation for another time).
The original Bon Jovi lineup, back in the days when induction into the Rock Hall was a distant dream.
