China-Russia Foreign Ministers' meet revs up RIC

Wang is the first Chinese minister to visit India after the resolution of the Dokalam standoff.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in New Delhi on Monday on the sidelines of Russia-India-China (RIC) trilateral meeting. It is learnt Yi conveyed that the two countries should increase strategic communication for better relationship.

The RIC meeting comes as Russian Federation and China are seen developing close bilateral ties against the backdrop of the two developing tensions with the United States for separate reasons. "India strongly recommends a comprehensive policy for dealing with global terrorism", Swaraj said during her address at the meeting.

The joint statement also called upon the worldwide community to respect global law and the UN Charter, including the principles of sovereign equality of states and non-interference in a country's internal affairs while dealing with terrorism and related issues.
