After her kidney transplant, Selena Gomez experienced what many others with chronic illnesses have faced, and recently revealed how she learned to feel empowered by her scar. "To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award because she saved my life", she said.
"My kidneys were just done".
"What's scary is knowing she was two weeks away from kidney failure", she said. I love deeply and I think that's just who I am.
She clarified that she isn't judgmental of people who use plastic surgery or treatments on their body, but that she wouldn't do it unless she already felt comfortable with who she is.
Accepting the award, Gomez said that she was grateful for all the support she has received throughout her career.
Democrats could come up losers in government shutdown fight
The White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, said the meeting would proceed as scheduled with McConnell and Ryan. Democrats thus have a surprising amount of leverage on the contents of the year-end spending bill.
Gomez added, after thanking Elle and Francia, "I don't know how I'll ever repay it but maybe I'll make an epic album next year".
Beyonce, Pink, Taylor Swift and Fergie are the former recipients of the award.
"Specifically this year, I would like to thank my wonderful team and my family because they stuck with me through some really hard times", Gomez continued.
As this was a Women in Music event, Gomez's speech was heavily focused on females meaning she gracefully side-stepped any mentioned of Justin Bieber or The Weeknd. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. "Going through that makes me look at life a little bit differently, and I am grateful for that". I am incredibly blessed. In acting and in film, you're around a much more stable community. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.
