Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the Gujarat assembly elections.

"Those opposing the bullet train project should travel on bullock carts".

He referred to Congress leaders - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Morarji Desai (both from Gujarat) - to suggest that they did not get their due because the party's internal elections were rigged.

"Dr Manmohan Singhji, your government had made an announcement before the 2012 (Gujarat Assembly) elections from Delhi about the bullet train, but your talks with Japan did not go down well as the loan Japan was offering we could not afford", he said, and added that his government had negotiated the loan at a very low interest rate and the work on the bullet train had started.

According to Congress workers as well as activists, the feedback is increasingly that several in the Muslim community, even if they do not vote for the BJP, might not turn up in adequate numbers to vote for Congress candidates. "They keep on muttering words like tolerance, tolerance, tolerance. He has been collectively boycotted by that party", Mr Modi claimed. In coming years, we shall develop them one by one. He alleged that this was the practice with the Congress Party.

Earlier in the day, in his campaign blitzkrieg in poll-bound Gujarat, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of seeking to divide the people on caste and religious lines. "Once they are developed, Bharuch is also likely to benefit", he said.

To be honest, I am not someone who looks at a lot of journalists' stuff, but I am always hearing the same stuff. But we have the experience to get better out of a game like that, you know.

"A youngster Shehzad has exposed the rigging that is taking place in the Congress president poll".

Modi, who ruled the state between 2001 and 2014, said the Congress must introspect on its current position.

Poonawalla also opined that rather than blaming any other factors, the Congress must accept defeat on grounds of their leadership not being strong enough. "I am loyal to them and am proud to be a donkey", he said.

"Modiji, Do tell Gujarat & Country about the victims of yours & Amit Shah's "internal democracy" in BJP, namely - Sh".

"Raising an issue nobody in my party - the Congress will have guts to raise- my conscience will not allow me to stay quiet anymore on Dynasty/ sycophancy", he tweeted.
