Earlier in the day, Trump blasted CNN and its global arm in a tweet, accusing the network of spreading "fake" news and representing the U.S.

Comey responded, indirectly, on social media.

The president may have already moved onto his next Twitter tirade, but the internet came to the defense of the network, giving reasons why CNN is not the fraudulent company Trump paints it as.

Missing sub was in good condition: navy
It joins HMS Protector, a Royal Navy ice patrol ship; the HMS Clyde, an offshore patrol vessel; and an RAF C-130 in the search. Some relatives of the crew have claimed the navy put their loved ones at risk in a vessel that is more than 30 years old.

It's not CNN's job to represent the U.S to the world. That's yours. Our job is to report the news.

"The perception of Donald Trump in capitals around the world is shaped, in many ways, by CNN", he told New York Magazine reporter Gabe Sherman. In the video, they seemingly allude to the President by suggesting that some people might shout or write in all caps that an apple is a banana, attempting to subvert the truth. Eisen also noted that the timing of Trump's anti-media tweet was suspect; it went out the same day CNN and other media outlets reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced that Russia would begin recognizing media organizations from other countries as "foreign agents". Former FBI director James Comey also seemed to weigh in on the president's words when he tweeted about the freedom of the press.

As of Saturday evening, CNN's response had more tweets than Trump's attack. "It's not CNN's job to represent the U.S. to the world".
