Although people will knock Kelly's lack of success with the Eagles and 49ers in the NFL, he was a tremendous college football coach first.

Is this the right move for the Bruins?

Before today's announcement, Kelly had also been named as a person being considered for the vacant job at the University of Florida.

UCLA Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero expressed being "thrilled" at welcoming Kelly to UCLA. Kelly was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons in 2009 and 2010, and Associated Press Coach of the Year in 2010. It reportedly came down to the Bruins and Florida for Kelly's services, but ultimately, he made a decision to stay on the west coast. Known as an offensive innovator while there, his up-tempo offenses averaged 44.7 points per game during that span. Kelly finished with a 46-7 record at Oregon. Kelly exited the National Football League with a career 28-35 record. The NCAA sanctioned Kelly with "failure to monitor".

Almost 60M Expected To Travel For Thanksgiving Holiday
Still, about 45 million will still hit the roads for Thanksgiving, with more than 1 million traveling via vehicle in New Jersey. Conversely, the average rate for AAA Two Diamond Rated hotels has decreased five percent with an average nightly cost of $117.

The 49ers now owe Kelly approximately $15 million, sources told ESPN's Darren Rovell.

With Kelly formally, officially out of the picture, UF is expected to pursue UCF coach Scott Frost. Since then Kelly has been working as an analyst for ESPN. Mora was midway through his sixth season with the program.

At UCLA, Kelly will look to stop a disturbing trend in Westwood - losses to ranked teams.

UCLA does now have the nation's No. 14-ranked recruiting class for 2018 and has finished with a top-20 class the past three years.
