Representatives for Perry and Victoria's Secret didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment regarding this situation. During the same performance, Perry went on to wave a Tawainese flag.
That's how Victoria's Secret must be feeling right now.
Page Six reported that Perry's ban is related to an outfit the singer wore while performing in Taipei, Taiwan, on her 2015 world tour.
During the gig she also donned a sunflower gown - supposedly symbolic of the Sunflower Student Movement, which protested a Chinese trade agreement in 2014.
This controversy isn't the first to impact the fashion show..
This May Be Alessandra Ambrosio's Last Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Reports claimed Gigi was banned because of a "racist" video she posted back in February of her pulling a face in a lighthearted imitation of a Buddha cookie. Her sister, Bella, who posted the video that was later deleted, is still scheduled to be part of the show.
The 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is being filmed in Shanghai, and there's no shortage of fantastic models walking in the highly anticipated runway show-even though fan-favorite Gigi Hadid dropped out last minute.
Hours ago, the executive producer issued a statement where they danced around the reasons why the model can not walk in her third Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
But Hadid isn't the only model facing setbacks. Many including ulia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva and Irina Sharipova from Russian Federation, as well as Dasha Khlystun from Ukraine were all denied the requisite visa.
The show, due to take place on November 20, is apparently going to be "bigger than ever before" according to some reports, with four huge performers due to take to the Shanghai stage alongside the models.
It's unclear why Victoria's Secret thought hosting a lingerie show in Shanghai, China, was a good idea. Last year, Angel Elsa Hosk notably wore a dragon on the runway, which many thought turned Chinese culture into a literal costume. It seems very tough to get a visa to China, indeed.
