There are more than 3,000 children in the child welfare system in Miami Dade and Monroe counties.

Mengarelli and Judge David W. Dugan, adoption attorneys and Illinois Department of Children and Family Services staff will come together to make the day memorable for these new families.

"In Cullman County alone in 2017, we have identified and secured forever families for siblings we were told would never be able to live together, a lovely little girl with many medical and developmental needs that render her wheelchair bound, a unique and handsome 16-year-old with behavioral issues-I mean, what 16-year-old doesn't have 'behavior issues, ' right?"

Volunteers are designated to serve one child or sibling group to evaluate their well-being by getting to know them and speaking with any and all relevant contacts in their lives. "We are always in need of permanent homes for some of our children in foster care and we're always in need of foster parents".

It's one of the few times families can walk into a court room and it be the happiest day of their life.

"Growing up I saw the need". What a joyous day it was to see a family finally get the happy ending they so desperately deserve.

For the past 8 years, Maricopa County has had one of the largest number of adoptions nationwide.

Either family members of the child or an unrelated family then go through weeks of training and allow themselves and their homes to be investigated before they can adopt. "They've done a lot of hard work this year to get there".

There are hundreds of thousands of kids in our nation's foster care system. "Little Kye came to our home when she was 3, going on 4, and we just knew the minute she walked in that it was flawless for us", Deborah says.

"Everything that happened with Ireland really pushed me to do better", Quinn said Friday, minutes after the adoption was finalized by a judge. "You have my respect, and I thank you". "The homes that we do have here stay full", said Smith.

"Daniel always said we can't have more kids than will fit in a minivan but there's a new minivan out that has nine seats".

For families with pending adoption cases, the process can be grueling and expensive, especially when complicated custody arrangements are involved.
