Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian manipulation of the 2016 USA election, has already indicted Trump's former campaign manager and another senior fundraiser on charges including money laundering and a former foreign policy adviser has pleaded guilty to perjury. Friday's report describes a second meeting involving both Flynns at the 21 Club restaurant, a prohibition-era NY speakeasy patronised by Trump, in mid-December.

The Journal reported that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents asked at least four people about a December meeting in NY where Flynn and Turkish government representatives discussed removing Gulen, according to people with knowledge of the FBI's inquiries. Manafort's lawyers may have a point in complaining, as they have, that the Foreign Agents Registration Act is rarely criminalized and that Mueller shouldn't weaponize it.

The allegations of a plot involving the dissident cleric could open up Flynn and his son to charges including 'conspiracy to kidnap'.

The people who described the alleged proposal said they didn't attend the December meeting and didn't have direct knowledge from Mr. Flynn or his associates about its purported details.

Flynn briefly served as Trump's national security adviser, but had to resign in February after misleading Vice President Mike Pence about conversations he had with Russian officials prior to Trump's inauguration. According to "people familiar with the investigation", it was at this encounter that the $15m payment was discussed.

The timing of the 21 Club meeting is significant.

It is not immediately clear whether McGregor will face any disciplinary action by the UFC or a regulatory body. He screamed and pointed in Goddard's direction while chaos surrounded him inside the cage.

The meeting happened, however, after Flynn had already been offered the job of national security adviser in the Trump White House.

Multiple sources have told NBC News that Mueller has gathered enough evidence to lead to an indictment in the investigation into Flynn and his son.

"If the facts involving Flynn and his son are true, or even mostly true, it indicates an incredible propensity for outrageously illegal conduct", said Ryan Goodman, a NY law professor and former Pentagon counsel.

The Mueller investigation into the Flynns is part of an overall probe into the Trump campaign's involvement with Russian Federation.

NBC News also reports this morning that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team has taken an interest in the alleged December 2016 meeting as part of "a line of inquiry regarding Flynn's lobbying efforts on behalf of Turkey".

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 19: House Science, Space and Technology Committee member Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) questions witnesses from NASA, the Department of Defense and the White House during a hearing in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill March 19, 2013 in Washington, DC. Barry Coburn, representing Flynn's son, said he had no comment. Discussions between Flynn and Turkish representatives reportedly took place there.
