NVIDIA has announced the launch of its another graphics card, dubbed as the GTX 1070 Ti. As we discussed earlier, the card is a beefed-up alternative to the GTX 1070 that ends up landing very close to GTX 1080. How much with the cards cost? On top of that, the original1070 Ti has seen a price drop, bringing it down to $399.
Currently, Nvidia has opened up pre-orders for the GTX 1070 Ti with the Founders Edition which launches at $449 - $50 less than the GTX 1080. The new card is equipped with 2432 CUDA cores. By comparison, the GTX 1080 comes with 2560 CUDA cores, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPS and is rated for 8.2 TFLOPS of performance.
The GTX 1070 Ti is the upgraded version of the existing GTX 1070 that was announced past year. The 1070 Ti is designed on the Pascal architecture. The 180W TDP GPU features a 1607 MHz base clock and 1683 MHz boost clock.
AMD's Ryzen CPU with Vega graphics threatens Kaby Lake
We see the exact same core and thread count in the Ryzen 5 2500U , only with a max clock speed of 3.6GHz instead of 3.8. Compared to just three years ago, Raven Ridge is almost six times more efficient than Kaveri which launched in 2014.
There are a couple of custom Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti models that you can choose from that will provide you with custom coolers which means lower temps and better performance. There you have the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in a nutshell. First, the 1070/1080 are over a year old, so having a new (slightly tweaked/improved) product for the holidays is pretty common among GPU vendors.
Whether or not this interim card is specifically to compete with AMD's recent Vega 56 is pure speculation, but here's the low-down on the new graphics card. Board partners chose to use their GTX 1080 coolers and PCB designs for GTX 1070 Ti rather than GTX 1070's. Nvidia claims it doubles the performance of the GTX 970 and is well-suited to overclocking. The street price will vary due to the existence of cryptocurrency mining.
