Kicking off the program, Baldwin's Trump comes out to speak to a crowd about the recent goings-on involving the president in the news. In a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump allegedly mocked Pence's right-wing Christian beliefs, such as overturning Roe v. Wade and opposing gay rights. Throughout the cold open, Trump continues to check in with Pence, finding new reasons to tell Pence to bail on whatever situation he's gotten into.
At other times, Ms Meyer reports, Mr Trump would snidely ask campaign staffers if Mr Pence had made them pray with him.
Mr Pence has also been accused of supporting conversion therapy - a discredited form of treatment that seeks to turn gay people straight - after suggesting state money should be "directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behaviour". "He wants to hang them all!"
Oh man, isn't it great to know somehow who could easily become the president has views so extreme that his boss jokes that he wants gay people to die? But Pence's discriminatory behavior doesn't stop there. He also said at the time that legalizing gay marriage would cause a "societal collapse". One study even discovered children of same-sex couples were happier than their straight-family counterparts.
Kurdish fighters said withdrawing from Kirkuk as Iraqi forces advances
Washington works closely with both the federal forces and the Kurdish Peshmerga to fight against Islamic State (IS) militants. Tensions have soared since the Kurds held a non-binding referendum last month in which they voted for independence from Iraq.
Pence, the former Governor of IN, has repeatedly shown an anti-LGBT stance during his career - he supports discrimination based on religious beliefs, said same-sex marriage would lead to "societal collapse", and voted against passing a non-discrimination act.
It became such a lightning rod Pence was forced to sign another law specifying the first did not allow discrimination.
Trump's crude joke at the expense of Pence's views was inappropriate for many reasons. According to an anonymous member of Trump's campaign staff, the president occasionally acts catty about Pence's faith in general. He has a long, sordid history of using his positions of power to reject the LGBTQ community, and to do whatever he can to obstruct their own pursuits of happiness.
