Immigration principles could create problems for DACA plan

The plan calls for funds for the construction of President Trump's Mexico border wall, and would allow the deportation of unaccompanied children arriving illegally in the U.S., impose more rigorous checks on asylum applicants, make it harder for gang members to sneak into the U.S. and ensure swift removal of all immigration offenders, with a particular focus on visa overstayers. The White House released a list of "principles", many of which are policies that Democrats have already categorically rejected, meaning that the ongoing congressional negotiations to protect the "Dreamers" could come to a halt.

The priorities outlined by the White House also include curbs on legal immigration, a move senior White House officials called essential to protect the safety and economic security of US citizens.

"These findings outline reforms that must be included as part of any legislation addressing the status of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients", Trump wrote in a letter to Congress accompanying the list, using the official name for the amnesty order.

The Trump administration on Sunday sent to the Congress a set of immigration proposals, including eliminating Green Cards for extended families, other than minor children and spouses, that has always been a key pillar of legal immigration from India.

Before the election and after winning the U.S. presidential vote Trump made a number of statements pledging to take a more hardline position as for undocumented migration to the United States and to proceed with the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico among other issues.

Requiring employers to use the E-Verify system to check that anyone they're hiring is legally allowed to work in the USA.

The White House also said it wants to boost fees at border crossings, hire 10,000 more immigration enforcement officers, make it easier to deport gang members and unaccompanied children, and overhaul the asylum system. Conservative commentator Ann Coulter said at the time, "If we're not getting a wall, I'd prefer President Pence". "This proposal fails to represent any attempt at compromise", Pelosi and Schumer added.

Marouane Fellaini to miss Liverpool clash with three-week injury lay-off expected
Four goals from 8 games in all competitions have equaled the number of goals scored by Fellaini last season from 47 parties. However, Belgium have since confirmed that Fellaini sprained his MCL, which will rule him out for a "couple of weeks".

Democrats are opposed to nearly all of these ideas unless they are part of a comprehensive package that includes a path to citizenship for nearly all of the estimated 11 million people living in the USA illegally.

Trump wants the border wall he campaigned on to be built, a crackdown on illegal immigration and to switch the US legal immigration system from one that prioritizes family connections to one based on merit.

Last month, Democratic congressional leaders expressed optimism that they could find a deal with the president to extend DACA protections in exchange for provisions to strengthen the border.

"If the President was serious about protecting the Dreamers, his staff has not made a good faith effort to do so", they said.

Faced with pressure for his decision to repeal the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA) last month, Trump has agreed to sign a bill that could protect dreamers (beneficiaries of the program).

The list also includes measures to beef up interior immigration enforcement including discouraging cities and counties from adopting sanctuary policies; an encouragement of state and local officials to help enforce immigration violations; expanded detention authority; and a crackdown on people who stay illegally after their visas expire.

The exact same scene played out in September's budget negotiations: Trump demanded funding for a wall.
