The Bulldogs (5-0, 2-0 SEC) dominated the game in every way possible, churning up 380 yards of offense while holding Tennessee to just 142 and forcing four turnovers (two interceptions and two fumble recoveries). Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS. LSU joins Missouri, which was ranked 17th when it lost 24-14 at Troy in 2004.
Three plays and two completions later, Etling lofted a 34-yard touchdown to receiver Russell Gage and another 20-yard strike to Moreau late in the fourth quarter.
"We've got to find out why we're not making the plays we're supposed to make", said Orgeron, who is listenable but getting less listenable for some.
LSU named Orgeron its interim head coach a year ago, when it fired Les Miles after a 2-2 start. Linebacker Devin White added 11 tackles, while end Greg Gilmore had nine tackles and a sack.
Five plays later, Troy took a 7-0 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Brandon Silvers and the extra point by Evan Legassey.
Silvers, a prep star at Gulf Shores High School, ended the game with 157 passing yards.
Clemson 31, Virginia Tech 17: Kelly Bryant ran around and away from Virginia Tech to lead No. 2 Clemson to its third victory in three games against teams in the Top 25. To start the second quarter, down only 10-0, Tennessee got a hopeful interception, 27 yards from paydirt that never would pay. The Tigers showed marked improvement last week with a three-penalty game, but if they revert to their form from earlier this season one of the officials might tear a rotator cuff.
I think pretty much everybody enjoys having Ed Orgeron (career record: 25-31) in and around college football in one capacity or another, ideally answering questions on camera as often as possible.
The Trojans snapped the ball on the referee's signal, and Legassey's 37-yard boot hit the crossbar and fell over for the 10-0 lead.

Winds of up to 25 miles per hour are expected in Hampton Roads, with gusts as high as 40 miles per hour on the coast. Mandatory evacuations were ordered for visitors to Okracoke and Hatteras islands over the weekend.
Troy running back Jordan Chunn broke loose on a 74-yard run on the opening drive of the second half, giving the Trojans a first-and-goal at the LSU two-yard line. "It seemed like we got out-physicalled by Troy tonight, which is not Tiger football".
LSU subbed in senior Darrel Williams for a heavy, 69-yard workload on 17 carries against Troy after starting tailback, junior Nick Brossette, fumbled on LSU's first offensive possession. The Tigers got the ball back with just 18 seconds left and did not mount a serious drive.
After absorbing a blow to his midsection in the second quarter, Etling did not return for the beginning of the second half, so Myles Brennan, a rifle-armed freshman quarterback, entered.
LSU did not start the game well.
LSU turned that fumble into more points off turnovers, driving 92 yards in less than two minutes to close the gap to 24-21.
LSU trailed 17-7 at the time of the interception.
The Trojans have committed more penalties than anyone in this great nation - even LSU.
Troy will not play next Saturday, but will prepare for a mid-week Sun Belt Conference match up with South Alabama. LSU scored two touchdowns with Danny Etling back in the game in the fourth quarter.
Starting safety John Battle, who was also listed as questionable, started for LSU.
