The Android Nougat update has finally become available for these handsets in the US. Previously, when the company rolled out its Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the flagship phone Moto X First Generation was skipped for few months.

Earlier today, we reported that Moto had started pushing out the Android Nougat update to the Moto X Play. If you are one of the owners of the Moto X Play waiting for the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update since June this year, the wait may have finally come to an end.

XDASNR has stated that this update can only be flashed on Moto X Play Indian variant with build MPDS24.107-70-1-5/5 (Download link). The update also adds Google Duo, Google's video calling app to the phone. Given that Motorola seems to have done away with their tradition of providing prompt software updates, we really can not say when, or even if, these handsets will receive the update. The company hasn't made any formal announcement about this software rollout yet, but many Moto X Pure Edition owners in the U.S. are now reporting that they have received this update on their device. We expect the same kind of list for the Android 8.0 Oreo update. As the company has started the rollout in Brazil and it seems like Lenovo India will soon release the Nougat update in the country.

As per the norm, these updates will spread across various regions in phases, so not worry if you haven't received the pop-up yet. And why the phone users aren't getting the update which was promised a long back. You can check manually by going into Settings - About - Software update.
