Oumar Niasse delighted with fresh chance at Everton

Ronald Koeman's side were heading for a fourth successive Premier League defeat when Josh King put Bournemouth ahead after the interval at Goodison Park.

In attempting to acquire those nine points, tactics and personnel are the vital formula, a formula that has misfired in recent league games.

Koeman has left out Leighton Baines, Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford and Morgan Schneiderlin while Kevin Mirallas is not named in the matchday 18.

Ronald Koeman says he is "not surprised" by how Oumar Niasse has turned his Everton career around.

They failed to score in their last three league games, which ended in consecutive defeats to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea and Koeman said the club must set realistic goals for the season. I think I have already won the fans over but now I need to keep performing and making important saves at the right times, to keep showing people what I can do.

Bournemouth went very close to levelling with six minute left but Mousset glanced wide from an unmarked position while Calvert-Lewin nearly scored what would have been a deserved goal from Jonjoe Kenny's cross but he couldn't steer his effort under the crossbar. Davies showed the quickness of foot and speed of thought lacking in Muhamed Besic alongside him.

And Howe's frustration was compounded when James McCarthy and Lukaku, again, struck to send Everton into the break with a three-goal advantage. Displaying a trait not always found in more esteemed and experienced teammates, the young midfielder has a willingness to seek possession that has been absent of late.

Vlasic subsequently cracked another shot narrowly off-target, but in truth, Everton looked as if they were struggling to find much rhythm until Calvert-Lewin broke the deadlock with seven minutes of the first half left. The four Premier League games played between the two sides have produced 19 goals, so this one is also expected to be a game full of goals.

Koeman, meanwhile, has no doubt forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is taking "big steps". Two midweek goals fired another reminder to his manager that the central striking role is his best position. Add to that the fact that Everton failed to test Begovic regularly, and one sees the same problems from every match this season.

When you look at their squad and some of the players they brought in during the summer and the money they spent, I am sure they will turn it around.
