Williams is coming off a finals appearance at Wimbledon in July, and is poised to contend for a US Open title in several weeks.

Williams is enjoying a comeback season, reaching the finals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon at age 37. Meanwhile, she is in OH at this week's Western and Southern Open, taking advantage of one final tune-up before the final Grand Slam event of the season.

Ninth-ranked Venus advanced to the second round at the WTA Cincinnati Open by eliminating USA compatriot Alison Riske 6-2, 6-0 in 66 minutes.

"I mean, here is an opportunity for me to play at home", said Williams, who will face Barty on Wednesday.

Seven-time grand slam victor Williams, who lost the Australian Open final to sister Serena in January, fought back after losing the opening set to take the second but ultimately went down 6-3 2-6 6-2.

"As I've gotten older I've started to feel differently about it. Power is beauty".

US Stocks Rise After Volatile Week
Sompo Holdings rose 2.2 percent, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group rose 1.7 percent and Mizuho Financial Group added 1.4 percent. Gold, viewed as a safe haven for investors in troubled times, fell 0.6 percent to $1,274 an ounce.

"I'm completely dead right now", Zverev said. 'I was so energetic that day, but then I remember being totally exhausted and needed to take a break for an hour. "Let's put it that way".

"I have a lot of things in my cart that I'm about to order".

"I believe that the other girls in the locker room will say, 'Serena's really nice.' But Maria Sharapova, who might not talk to anybody, might be perceived by the public as nicer".

Serena recently gave a glimpse on social media network Snapchat of her baby bump while hitting the gym. That's by virtue not of her 2017 Australian Open title but of her 2016 Wimbledon crown.

The last time Serena Williams was in a competitive match was in January against Venus.

Karolina Pliskova celebrated her return to the tournament that helped launch her rise to world number one with a 6-2 6-3 win over Russian Natalia Vikhlyantseva in the second round of the Cincinnati Open on Wednesday.
