Filming for historical drama Mary, Queen Of Scots has begun on location in the United Kingdom and the first images of Saoirse Ronan playing Mary Stuart have set fire to the internet. "House of Cards" creator Beau Willimon wrote the script based on John Guy's acclaimed biography "My Heart is My Own: The Life of Mary, Queen of Scots". The Working Title Films production is directed by Josie Rourke who's making her feature film directorial debut with Mary, Queen of Scots.

The project is now filming in the U.K. No release date has been set for the film. The movie's producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and Debra Hayward were all previously Oscar-nominated for their work on Les Misérables.

An exact release date for Mary, Queen of Scots has yet to be announced.

Ron Howard Teases Familiar Empire Presence For HAN SOLO
Indeed, based on what we know of the Han Solo film , it seems unlikely that the Death Star's even been completed by that point.

The cast here is pretty stacked, as Ronan is joined by Jack Lowden (Dunkirk), Joe Alwyn (Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk), Martin Compston (Sweet Sixteen), and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey) as well as David Tennant and Guy Pearce.

If you need brushing up on your history, the film tells the story of how Mary Stuart's attempt to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England, finds her condemned to years of imprisonment before facing execution. Redgrave received an Academy Award nomination for best actress in a leading role and the film took noms for best art direction-set decoration, best costume design, best music, original dramatic score, and best sound.

Pearce starred in "Alien: Covenant".
