Just a day after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's statement that Sharad Yadav is free to take a decision regarding his next political move, the JD (U) on Saturday replaced him with Ramchandra Prasad Singh as the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha.

He said it was the people who had made the Grand Alliance of RJD, JD-U and Congress in the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls and given their mandate to rule for five years. "I met JD (U) president Nitish Kumar at my residence yesterday".

Kumar nearly shut the door on any reconciliation with Yadav, saying he is free to take any decision as the alliance with the BJP had the entire party's nod.

The cracks in JD (U) have now become so big that it would be impossible to save the structure.

Apart from this, due to the continuous questioning of the decision by Nitish to form a government with the BJP, a possible show-cause notice can also be issued to Sharad Yadav. "Sharad Yadav should accept that Nitish Kumar has that power today and he does not have", Paswan said. Last night, the JD (U) had sacked Arun Shrivastav, considered a close confidante of Yadav, from the post of party general secretary for "unauthorisedly" writing to the Returning Officer of Gujarat Assembly appointing an election agent for the crucial Rajya Sabha election there. He also sent a senior JD (U) leader Ali Anwar on his behalf to attend the opposition party meet organised by Congress high command Sonia Gandhi on Friday.

Nitish Kumar is the Janata Dal-United national president and said to fully control the party in Bihar. "The BJP chief has been told that the party will share the names of the MPs who could join the council of ministers headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi", sources said.

"On Friday they suspended me from the parliamentary party". Sharad Yadav has called a conclave on "sanjhi virasat bachao" (save composite culture) at Constitution Club in the capital.

"We have the support of activists, students, and other social leaders". We are not going to get cowed down by such threats.

Nitish is expected to formally announce his decision to join the NDA at the party's national executive meeting in Patna on August 19. "We will fight till the end and go to the masses", said Ansari.
