Among those arrested, six of them including Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani's son-in-law Altaf Ahmed Shah (also known as Altaf Fantoosh), Geelani's close aides Naeem Khan, Merazuddin Kalwal and Pir Saifulla, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq's close aide and spokesperson Shahid-ul-Islam were arrested in Srinagar.
The NIA had conducted searches across the national capital and Kashmir in relation to the case of terror funding last month. The Jammu and Kashmir Police had put him in preventive detention immediately after the festival of Eid earlier this month.
Altaf Funtoosh is the son-in-law of Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The leaders will be brought to New Delhi on Monday for further proceedings.
In June, the NIA had carried out raids at more than 14 places in Srinagar, eight in Delhi, and one in Haryana.

Sources said that the said leaders were summoned by NIA to Humhama where they were formally arrested.
The investigation started after Nayeen Khan allegedly confessed to receiving money from Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Taiba to create chaos in the valley during a TV sting operation.
The NIA had recovered account books, Rs 2 crore in cash and letterheads of banned terror groups, including of the LeT and HM, from the raids. The agency's investigation seeks to identify the chain of players behind the financing of terrorist activities, including pinpointing those who pelted stones at security forces, burnt down schools and damaged government establishments.
