Holy Shit, The Flash Movie Will Adapt Flashpoint

The Flash, which we've long known about, will take on a Flashpoint storyline.

During Warner Bros.'s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, the studio confirmed that the upcoming The Flash movie is still on track, even though the movie has yet land a director.

Fans have seen the popular story adapted as an animated movie titled Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, and on The CW's The Flash as the basis for its third season. It's unclear if the movie will go down the same route as the comics, but there, Barry's actions led to some pretty very bad fates for the rest of the Justice League. The 2011 Flashpoint event has risen to iconic status in only six years because it took a deeply personal Flash story and used it to rewrite the entire DC comics universe, taking Flash to an alternate universe where the Justice League doesn't exist and the world's heroes are on the brink of war. Nobody seems to notice that the world has completely changed, except for Barry.

Flashpoint is now scheduled for a 2020 release date.

Michael Phelps gets up close to massive sharks before race
It's actually all pretty cool - and even cooler that Phelps wasn't that far off from beating the shark in the 100m race. Fans will have to tune in to find out how Phelps fared against the ocean's most powerful predator when Phelps vs.

The other logo attendees saw on the screen was for the perpetually troubled Flash film.

By making a film based on the Flashpoint (though they're calling it Flash Point, thechnically, but still) storyline, it would also allow Warner Bros.to make a few tweaks to the reality of the DCEU itself - like perhaps swapping in a different actor for Batman, perhaps, with word breaking that Ben Affleck may be looking to hang up the cowl?

Does this mean Flashpoint will adapt this series? We're hoping it's as comic book accurate as possible. There's two problems with that: 1) the DCEU movies having freedom to NOT directly tie from one to the next has proven successful with Wonder Woman, and 2) Johns made his name at DC by inspiring creators to tell faithful stories that mattered to them.
