Tyler O'Neill is traded to Cards

As one of the top prospects in the Mariners' organization, O'Neill was used to bring over southpaw Marco Gonzales from St. Louis to bolster Seattle's pitching depth. "We find his current performance, preparedness and proximity to the Major Leagues to be very appealing traits in a pitcher". In 11 starts at AAA Memphis this year, Gonzales is 6-4 with a 2.90 ERA. Since June 18, he is 5-1 with a 2.61 ERA. He made one start for the Cardinals this season, going just 3.1 innings and allowing five runs. Canada - an annual honor given to the nation's top bodybuilder - in 1975.

Gonzales, 25, was the Cardinals first round draft pick (19th overall) out of Gonzaga University in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. He's now on pace for another solid season of home run hitting with 19 home runs so far in the Pacific Coast League. The right-handed hitting outfielder struck out 108 times while drawing 44 walks and posted a.328 on-base percentage and a.479 slugging percentage.

O'Neill, 22, was the Mariners third round pick (85th overall) in the 2013 draft out of Garibaldi Secondary School in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada.
