Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday said she has made a decision to resign from Rajya Sabha after she was reportedly not allowed to speak in Parliament about the alleged atrocities on Dalits, according to ANI.
She said that it was shameful if she can't speak about the problems of weaker sections. Mayawati said that the BJP-ruled states have failed to reign in the atrocities against minorities and Dalits. "One more dalit was murdered after that", she said. Earlier, there was a din in the House as Mayawati spoke about "atrocities on Dalits" in Saharanpur of Uttar Pradesh.
Before she could make much headway in discussing the issue, Mayawati was asked to cut short her talk as she had exceeded the three minutes given to her to make her submission.

While interrupted, she said: "I will resign if not allowed to speak". "I will come and give my resignation right now, if I am not allowed to speak right now", the BSP chief said after being asked to wrap up her impromptu speech on Saharanpur anti-Dalit violence.
"This is the reason I have chose to quit from the Rajya Sabha".
After Mayawati left Parliament, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi demanded an apology from her, saying that she had been disrespectful to the House.
