The newspaper claims that the Eagles were close to securing a season-long loan deal with the midfielder last summer, but the club were overtaken by fellow Premier League side Bournemouth.

Jack Wilshere could be playing his football away from the Emirates for a second successive season with Crystal Palace reportedly lining up a loan bid.

His season at the Vitality Stadium was cut short when he fractured his leg against Tottenham in April.

And the 25-year-old may fancy a move to Selhurst Park with fellow midfielder Thomas Lemar a potential incoming signing at Arsenal.

Although he largely did well in the 25 appearances he made for the Cherries last season, Eddie Howe declined the chance to sign him permanently and he subsequently finds himself back on the treatment table at Arsenal.

"I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes", Wenger said.

The England global has only one year left in his current contract with Arsenal, and the report claims that the Gunners will only allow him to leave if he agrees to a contract extension.

According to Transfermarkt, Wilshere has missed 154 games through injury over the course of his Arsenal career, not including the five games he was absent for at Bournemouth following his fracture.

'I will give you a very focused answer on that.

But with one year left on his contract, Wenger believes he will stay and fight for first team reps.

'But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from practising with the team'.
