On a day when billion-dollar budgets were supposed to rule the stage, the first glimpse of images from Disney's Poppins sequel - Mary Poppins Returns - were met with the greatest applause, cheering and a standing ovation from the crowd.
Other well -know actors such as Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Emily Mortimer and one of the films original stars Dick Van Dyke will all be making an appearance. Michael, a child in Mary Poppins, is an adult widower, with three children, helped along with his sister Jane. "Every person we approached said yes immediately". Massoud will play the title role with Scott as Princess Jasmine, according to Deadline coverage from Disney's D23 Expo. "I wanted to pay homage to Julie and then carve out my own niche and do my own version of her".
Blunt and the film's director Rob Marshall spoke about the film at Disney's biennial expo (D23) on Saturday, where fans in attendance got to also see the first full teaser of the movie, which reportedly included clips that harken back to the original in the most delightful way: Mary floating in via umbrella, a big chimney sweep number, some kite-flying. Until now. Mary Poppins Returns is drawn from the wealth of material in these additional books. Blunt looks happy to be playing the iconic character, and is sure to give an incredible performance in the sequel.

The sequel, like its predecessor, is based on the book series by Australian-born P.L. Travers.
The incidents in the film take place more than 24 years after the original film and follow the children who have now grown up and are going through a personal loss, forcing Mary Poppins and her lamplighter friend Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) to pay a visit to them.
While we still have a bit of a wait for Mary Poppins Returns to hit our screens, debuting at cinemas next December, Disney has released a sneak peak of Emily Blunt as Poppins, and it's getting us excited already.
