Two US Bombers Hold Firing Drills With South Korean Forces

Some experts say that the trajectory of Tuesday's launch could put Alaska and possibly the Pacific Northwest within North Korea's strike range, as Pyongyang claims that the newly developed missile can carry a large nuclear warhead and is capable of striking the United States mainland.

The interceptor will be fired from Alaska and will take place "in the coming days", the agency reported. Briefing reporters on Wednesday, Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said: "We do have confidence in our ability to defend against the limited threat, the nascent threat that is there".

Johnson added: "The test is designated as Flight Test THAAD (FTT)-18".
