Blasts in Pakistani city of Parachinar kill 15: Government official

At least 11 people were killed, including four policemen and 20 others were injured in an explosion in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province on Friday, news agency PTI reported.

The first explosion occurred in Akbar Khan Market in Parachinar headquarters of Kurram Agency when people were busy shopping for Iftar and Eid, officials said. Islamic State Khorasan Province, the Middle Eastern group's affiliate in Afghanistan and Pakistan, has been known to work with the myriad of Pakistani militant groups in previous attacks, including with JuA.

Investigators said the attack targeted police.

Officials at the city's Civil Hospital said at least 13 people were killed and around 20 injured, mostly by shrapnel.

Friday evening, gunmen in the port city of Karachi attacked police officers at a roadside restaurant and killed four of them before fleeing, according to senior police officer Asif Ahmed.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, two army aviation helicopters have taken off from Peshawar to Parachinar for speedy evacuation of the injured to the provincial capital. "Rescue operation is in progress", it said in a statement.

Likewise, 25 people were killed and 87 others suffered injuries when a bomb went off during peak business hours at a crowded vegetable market in the city in January this year.

National Assembly Member from Parachinar Sajid Tori said that the critical injured would be shifted to Peshawar for treatment.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack, saying that terrorists involved in the attack will be taken to task and all out efforts will be taken to eliminate terrorism.

Kakar blamed India for the Quetta blast.

Officials said body parts of the suspected bomber, strewn across the site of the blast, were being collected along with other evidence for forensic examination.

TV footage showed several badly damaged cars and a road littered with broken glass.

In Baluchistan, provincial government spokesman Anwar ul Haq Kakar said the Quetta auto bomb went off near the office of the inspector general (IG) of police.
