LaVar Ball, now a freshly-minted famous National Basketball Association dad, was happy to point out all things notable on the night his son Lonzo Ball was picked by the Lakers.

"Magic Johnson is one of the greatest players to ever play... he's the best point guard to ever play, so I can learn a lot of things from him".

He is the highest pick from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins since Russell Westbrook was picked fourth overall in 2008.

Markkanen was asked about potentially playing with or replacing Porzingis, who team president Phil Jackson told MSG Network on Wednesday the Knicks are taking calls about after he left NY without attending his exit interview.

"I'm gonna tell you what: Alonzo Ball is going to take the Lakers to the playoffs his first year", LaVar, wearing a Big Baller hat in Laker colors, said in a television interview.

Monaco's Fabinho: Manchester United transfer 'would be very tempting'
Transfer market expert Emanuele Giulianelli has revealed that Manchester United will complete the signing of Fabinho in the next few days.

"What's incredible is that he's been, according to [Lonzo], his dad has been great. He's supported him. He obviously loves him and that's what you want out of a father, so I'm not overly concerned by it". "It's going to be a surprise for you guys and me".

"Me and my agent talked and we just didn't feel like they had much interest in drafting me at No. 1, so we felt like it would be sort of a waste of time for me to go out and work out if they were really not considering drafting me", Jackson said.

Ball receives comparisons to Jason Kidd for his offensive abilities. He was the conference's first player to average 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists per game since Kidd did it at California. He was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Freshman of the Year and was a Player of the Year finalist for them as well.

Kuzma impressed the Lakers in a recent draft workout with an outside shooting touch complementing his physical inside game.

With the 30th pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, acquired via a trade with Utah, the Lakers selected Josh Hart.
