South Korea's sports minister wants to create an inter-Korean hockey team with neighbors North Korea to compete in next year's Winter Olympic Games.

Do Jong-hwan, who was appointed minister of culture, sports and tourism last week, plans to discuss the plan with Chang Ung, North Korea's International Olympic Committee representative, at the World Taekwondo Championships in Muju in South Korea's North Jeolla Province.

Tickets for events at the 2018 Winter Olympics at PyeongChang in South Korea have gone on sale.

In addition, 69.7 percent said Korea's new government under President Moon Jae-in will have a positive effect on the country's hosting of the PyeongChang Olympics, according to the Korea Times.

Moon suggested earlier this month that the two countries lead a north-east Asian bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

The Sun also reports that United are anxious he is just using them to get Madrid to give him a new and improved contract. Ronaldo denies the accusations and is said to be considering a transfer away from Spain.

BIGBANG's Taeyang (L) holds up a card showing him as an honorary ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, alongside Lee Hee-beom, head of PyeongChang's organizing committee, at a ceremony in Seoul on June 21, 2017.

North Korea's footballers have made two appearances in the World Cup finals - notably in 1966, when they beat Italy 1-0 to reach the quarterfinal stage. To put together a single team, negotiations must take place between the South Korean team, the International Ice Hockey Federation and the IOC. "I hope that many people will share their dreams and passion through the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games".

The proposal, which would amalgamate North and South Korea's women's hockey teams, is one of a number of efforts at rapprochement ahead of the February opening of the Games in the South Korean town of Pyeonchang.

Pyongyang boycotted the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Olympics, which were both held in Seoul, but has since taken part in global sports competitions south of the border, most recently the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
