One ticket sold in California matched all the winning numbers drawn on Saturday (June 10) for the Powerball jackpot that soared to an estimated US$448.7 million on a surge of last-minute buying, lottery officials said. The victor, who has yet to be identified, can claim a jackpot worth $447.8 million.
The exact location of the victor isn't immediately known, but the lucky soul who picked 20-26-32-38-58, and Powerball 3, was based in the Golden State.
The victor has not come forward yet. The other option of a lump-sum payout would reduce the cash prize to $279 million.
That massive haul ranks among the largest jackpot in US history, and eclipsed a $435.3 million Powerball win in February that went to an anonymous victor in Indiana.
"We will not know who California's latest Powerball victor is until at least Monday morning at 8 a.m".
