Late Saturday evening, the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia Sixers completed a deal for the top overall pick, which they will use on Washington guard Markelle Fultz.
After his workout with the Sixers on Saturday evening, Fultz said he doesn't "really pay attention to everything that's going on". "I have to get a cheesesteak". "I'm big on that".
Multiple media outlets reported the deal will happen and once it becomes official, the 76ers intend to use the pick on Fultz in Thursday's draft at Barclays Center in NY.
You have to go to 1993 to find a similar situation to this Celtics-Sixers deal. Simmons missed the entire season with a foot injury but is expected to play his rookie season in 2017-18. The 76ers own two first-round picks in the 2018 draft, including an unprotected selection they would receive from the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Celtics will get an additional first-round pick in the 2018 or 2019 draft in exchange for moving down two spots in the first round this year. That pick could be a protected pick in 2021. "This pick provides us a tremendous opportunity to add another foundational player to our promising core".
According to the L.A. Times, the other top five picks have already been chosen.

The firm had revenue of $3.20 billion during the quarter, compared to analyst estimates of $3.20 billion. And while it doesn't know chairman Richard Baker well, others speak highly of him.
Fultz worked out at the team's practice site in Camden, N.J., and hours before the workout, the buzz was building.
"We are very pleased with the outcome of this trade, which puts us in the enviable position of selecting first overall in consecutive draft years", 76ers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo said. "He's a cool guy".
"I'll do whatever it takes to help any team I go to win", Fultz said. Although I would hate to see the National Basketball Association continue to breed these "superteams", it would still be nice to see some change in the Finals come next postseason (s).
With Boston not taking Fultz at No. 1, there's a lot of question marks surrounding who they could take at No. 3 now.
While Fultz and Simmons are point guards, the Sixers believe they can co-exist - specifically playing Fultz off the ball at shooting guard, allowing Simmons to take advantage of court vision and passing skills and allowing Fultz to showcase his scoring while not running the offense. Fultz could be the kind of player Ainge and Co. have been waiting for ever since Draft Night in 2013, when the Nets handed over their drafts for the next half-decade for the aging trio of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry.
It's an expansive option Philly no longer needs to consider assuming there are no last-minute issues with the Boston trade before it becomes final. The announcement of the particulars will likely happen Monday. "Process" himself averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.1 assists per game.
