National Basketball Association champion Warriors undecided on potential White House visit

Some members of the New England Patriots were absent from the team's visit to the White House in April, after the team won the Super Bowl the month before, according to ABC.

Head coach Steve Kerr has blasted President Donald Trump in the past, calling him "a blowhard, who couldn't be more ill-suited to become President".

Golden State's statement said that "today is all about celebrating our championship" and that they have not received an invitation to the White House.

While the Warriors released an official statement saying they hadn't been invited yet, forward Andre Iguodala already has made up his mind. There were reports early Tuesday that the team would decline a White House visit, but the team is denying that.

"Y'all might write about it".

The move may not come as a surprise since several Warriors have publicly criticized President Trump.

But with the increased political discourse, questions about entire teams skipping out seem to loom over every championship victor.

CNBC's Josh Brown tweeted overnight that the Warriors had voted to not go to the White House to celebrate their second championship in three seasons.

"I have no idea what kind of president he'll be because he hasn't said anything about what he's going to do", Kerr said after the election. Stephen Curry famously disagreed when Kevin Plank of Under Armour, a company that has signed Curry to an endorsement deal, called Trump an "asset".

"I agree with that description", Curry told The San Jose Mercury News. Most of the team's players have not publicly commented on whether or not they will make the trip because they just won their second National Basketball Association title in the last three years, and probably want to enjoy it for a while.

Iguodala said he thought the team might look to see what their leader, Steph Curry does, before deciding.

"Winning is fantastic. I've been so lucky to be part of so many championship teams as a player and now as a coach, and it never gets old", Kerr said after Monday's win. I mean, it may be different.

Basketball coaches and players have been far more candid in recent months regarding their political views, and few have shouted them down or stopped watching basketball because of it. Football coaches and players, in turn, have been reluctant to say anything, one way or the other, about things now happening in the country. "So you don't know what's going to happen".
