Sessions may also be questioned Tuesday about his role in Comey's firing.
Trump has denied Comey's version of events.
As the head of the Justice Department, Sessions leads the agency that could be involved in fielding requests for tapes that Trump has suggested exist.
Of special interest will be Comey's assertion that he told Sessions after the meeting that he never again wanted to be left alone with the president.
Sessions will also be prepared to describe the process of filling out his SF-86 security clearance form in 2016 - specifically, the advice he received from Federal Bureau of Investigation personnel that he didn't need to include all of the meetings he had with foreign officials in his capacity as a sitting senator, the source said.
Tuesday's hearing will be the first time Sessions has testified in Congress since that recusal and Comey's ouster.
Reports from the White House indicate that that recusal has been a sore spot between President Donald Trump and Sessions.
The Comey hearing certainly lived up to the hype.
The last person to leave was Jared Kushner, who also stood by my chair and exchanged pleasantries with me. He is a good guy.
"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go", Comey quoted Trump as saying.
Survival horror shooter Days Gone gets new 7-minute gameplay video
During Sony's E3 2017 press conference, zombie-biker game Days Gone received an extended gameplay trailer. Based on the gameplay, we're getting plenty of The Last of Us vibes, which isn't a bad thing at all.
Democratic lawmakers are skeptical that Sessions will divulge any explosive new details, especially since the attorney general could assert executive privilege regarding any questions about conversations with the president.
"Yes, yes, yes", she said when Axelrod asked about the matter.
The White House initially cited memos from Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein recommending Comey's firing over his handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe as the reason for his dismissal, and did not mention the Russian Federation investigation.
Discussions with the attorney general on topics within the scope of the President's constitutional duties ordinarily would be protected, lawyers say. He told reporters last week that he would discuss the possibility "in the very near future". "He did not reply".
The hearing is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Sessions will therefore have to walk a tightrope to both satisfy his boss, Donald Trump, and remove the political target on his back.
The committee can also work with the Trump administration to come up with a solution. "The president then excused him, saying he wanted to speak with me". Recordings of conversations where Trump allegedly asked Comey for "loyalty" and to stop investigating Michael Flynn would either support or refute Comey's allegations against the president.
Comey described the Oval Office meeting, before his one-on-one with Trump, as "a scheduled counterterrorism briefing". He said there were "quite a few others in the room, sitting behind us on couches and chairs".
"I have a recollection of him just kind of looking at me", Comey testified.
He testified that he soon left through that same door, walking by a group of people that included Priebus and Pence.
