Chinese livestreaming video apps like Yinke and Yizhibo have long embraced tipping, allowing viewers to tip or give virtual gifts to the stars they watch in exchange for extra attention from the performer or just as a show of gratitude.
Apple is now cracking down on apps that send you notifications to review them on the App Store. And even if they don't take a cut, platforms that adopt tipping could see users flock to consume it.
The use of Apple's API makes things easier for developers and users alike.
Since before we started playing Candy Crush, app review prompts have been a Wild West of sorts with no set rules for developers to follow. Now the entire control of app review prompts is in the user's hand. It also serves as a check against nuking one's review score, if a lot of users who previously reviewed can't be prompted again for a year.

Much of that came from China , where it grossed $52.2 million, putting it on par with the likes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens . The Marvel Studios release added $6.2 million from 2,911 screens, bringing its domestic total up to a great $366 million.
But Apple is also limiting the number of times that the rating prompt can be pushed to users.
It means you won't be constantly asked to give the app an up to date rating and you'll only get a few notifications over the course of a year. While, Apple does provide an RSS feed for this feature, it will be interesting to see if they continue offering this feed after the iOS 11 launch. If an app has recently undergone significant changes then it might be more hard to find relevant reviews unless users take the time to write reviews without being prompted.
The iOS 11 features a redesigned App Store. The Wall Street Journal reported Apple had told WeChat and other Chinese social apps to disable their tipping functions or be kicked out of the App Store.
