Attorney General Jeff Sessions is preparing to face former Senate colleagues over his role in the controversy around ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Secret Service handled recordings for past presidents, including Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy.

As news of his testimony broke, Sessions attended a Cabinet meeting with Trump at the White House.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions needs to reveal what he knows specifically about the meetings between President Donald Trump and former FBI Director James Comey, a Republican congressman on the foreign affairs committee said Monday. In connection with the ongoing suspicions regarding Russia's alleged influence, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has agreed answer questions before a Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday. And why did you fail to provide information about the meetings you had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak on your security clearance form?

Trump said last month that former FBI Director James Comey "better hope that there are no "tapes" of their conversations, days after the president abruptly fired Comey. He stated his concerns that Trump would lie about their interactions and insinuated that there were more connections between Sessions and Russian Federation than are now known to the public.

He did not say whether he would appear in open or closed session.

Such a hearing would be unprecedented and an even bigger spectacle than Comey's testimony, but the senator said it could be done in a "dignified" way.

Stuttering Murray faces Del Potro test in Paris
The first set, an 84-minute spectacle, saw Del Potro start strongest, but Murray soon pegged him back to force a tiebreak. He maintained the advantage throughout a high-quality set, only to be broken at 5-4 after failing to convert a set point.

Sessions offered to resign, an offer Trump deflected - for now.

Sessions may also be questioned Tuesday about his role in Comey's firing.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer told the daily briefing: "The president made clear in the Rose Garden last week he'll have an announcement shortly".

If Washington was in the throes of Comey fever last week, Sessions' public appearance won't generate anywhere near that kind of attention.

"I'll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future", Trump told reporters Friday when asked about the existence of any tapes. The Justice Department has denied that, saying Sessions stressed to Comey the need to be careful about following appropriate policies.

American Oversight's second request in the judge's order Monday stemmed from February reports saying Priebus reached out to Comey and his former deputy, Andrew McCabe, who is now the acting director of the bureau. "So I' m inviting him to come testify, and we could work that out", Schumer said, adding they would also consult with Robert Mueller, the special counsel to oversee the probe into the Trump campaign's relations with Russian Federation, before the hearing.

The Department of Justice says Sessions has adhered to the terms of his recusal from the Russian Federation investigation, but Democrats are likely to press the attorney general about it.
