"This is serious stuff, and the president seems to be taking it nearly a little bit lightly", Schumer said, especially since it was the president himself who raised the possibility that there were tapes of his conversations with Comey.
"I think we could work out a way it could be dignified, public, with questions, with Leader McConnell", Schumer said on CBS' "Face the Nation," referring to the Republican Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell. One, if there are tapes, he alluded to the fact that there are tapes, maybe as a threat or taunting Comey. "No more game playing", Schumer said.
Chuck Schumer, responding to Trump's statement Friday that he would "100 percent" speak under oath about the Comey affair, said he would like the president to testify in public before the Senate.

He announced his candidacy after Prime Minister Enda Kenny announced his resignation, a title referred to as Taoiseach in Ireland. PM-elect Varadkar defeated Housing Minister Simon Coveney, who hails from a family of Fine Gael stalwarts.
He added that they would consult with Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller when and if the president agreed to the testimony.
Comey told the Senate intelligence committee he hoped the move would trigger the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the US presidential election. He said a public testimony from Trump would help clear the "cloud" hanging over his administration and its alleged ties to Russian Federation. Comey told the Senate he wasn't aware of any recordings, and the White House has yet to give an answer, claiming Trump will talk more about it later this week.
Kasowitz also said he'd let the appropriate officials decide if Comey's leak should be investigated.
While he doesn't support the open Senate hearing route, Reed said Trump should be deposed on all Russia-related issues as a part of Mueller's investigation.
