London's Metropolitan Police told Italian authorities of Zaghba's involvement in Saturday's attack at and near London Bridge that killed seven people, sources said. The Italian authorities are saying that their work did not stop here though, with Corriere Della Sera reporting that they tipped off the British about the possible risk posed by Zaghba, who subsequently travelled to London to work in a Pakistani restaurant. They said Butt was known to police and MI5 in 2015, but there had been no evidence of a plot.
The revelation that at least one of Saturday's attackers, Khuram Butt, was known to security services has raised concerns that they lack the resources to prevent attacks.
