A visit from a peacock - supposedly elegant, poised creatures - ended in disaster, and a lot of wasted wine, for an Arcadia, California liquor store.

Manager Rani Ghanem apparently didn't notice the bird until a customer asked him in Spanish about the "pollo", or chicken.

As the bird tried to elude its capture, it knocked over several bottles of booze worth an estimated $500.

The officer successfully coaxed the wild bird off the shelf, but it was now standing precariously on dozens of bottles of expensive wine.

High Sierra will also offer updated photo-editing tools, and use machine learning to better sort and organize your images. It is more expensive than the Google Home voice-activated speaker with a list price of $129 and the Amazon Echo at $180.

After trying and failing to direct the peacock outside, Ghanem, a 21 year old resident from San Bernardino resolved to call the Los Angeles County animal control officer. "When that happened, I was like, 'Aw, this is about to be a big mess, '" Ghanem told the AP. "He tried to get it again with the net ..." It just went straight diving into all the bottles.

"There is AC in the store and it's nice in there, so it didn't want to leave", Ghanem said. "I'm like, 'You break, you buy, dude, ' But clearly he didn't. He got away with it". During her time at the store, it flew on top of shelves, flapped her wings trying to find her way out.

The lovely birds are loud, they can be aggressive, and they typically leave behind a "mess" wherever they go.

Why carefully? Peacocks are a protected animal in the city, about 13 miles outside of Los Angeles. As the AP points out, the bird was introduced to Arcadia after the town's founder, Lucky Baldwin, brought them over from India in the early 20th century.
