Jose Mourinho deserves his "Special One" moniker after winning the UEFA Europa League and EFL Cup in his first season in charge of Manchester United, according to Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba.
"It's important but, as always, I will go where the manager needs me, I will play in any position and feel I can fulfill many roles".
Mourinho highlighted Smalling's fitness in April when saying he was "too cautious" in his rehabilitation.
"When I'm sitting down with the manager and the medical staff we set out a timeline and then we try to shave it and push and push". We have to defend and it takes a lot of energy.
Speaking on ManUtd.com the young Brazilian is now ready to show he has grown as a player and as Mourinho enters the transfer market he wants his boss to know he can count on him.
The defender said there had been no apology from Mourinho, nor he stressed was one necessary.

Asked about the specific allegation that he would not play unless 100%, Smalling said: "I think in the Chelsea game I proved that I would play with injections".
"I think that was directed at everybody". There's always something. It's about going on the pitch and doing a job.
In April, speaking after United had beaten Anderlecht in the Europa League quarterfinal, Mourinho said: "It's time for Jones and Smalling to be fearless, because for the team you have to do everything. I don't think he knew the full picture then and once it was cleared up it was all good".
Pogba played in the 5-0 friendly win over Paraguay last week - failing to get on the scoresheet.
"It hasn't changed as such", Smalling said of the squad. We are not playing at the top of the table so we have to defend a lot.
"Wayne is a big miss because of who he is but hopefully he will be back".
