Georgia GOP congressional candidate stuns opponent with one question

Two other special House elections this month in California and SC are seen as less competitive and have drawn little or no outside campaign spending in recent weeks.

Handel replied, "Actually, it is of concern to the people of the 6th District that you do not live in our community".

Handel pointed out that Ossoff, 30, is a carpet-bagger who doesn't even live in the district he wants to represent.

Handel welcomed Trump for an April fundraiser, and the President sent a fundraising email on her behalf.

In total, outside groups, party committees and the two campaigns have spent more than $36 million on the contest so far, according to a recent Atlanta Journal-Constitution analysis, making the race by far the most expensive in the history of the House of Representatives.

But an Ossoff victory would rattle Washington along the lines of Republican Scott Brown's 2010 victory in a MA special Senate election. Later that year, Republicans routed Democrats in the midterms.

Ossoff had challenged Handel to six debates, and Handel presented four dates, including the CNN debate.

Ossoff did not dispute his national fundraising appeal but emphasized that his average donation "is less than $50", while Handel's campaign "has been bailed out by unaccountable Washington Super PACs". She said she has spent the majority of her career working in women's health and will remain on the frontline "fighting for women".

Ossoff went on the attack against the GOP health care bill, saying it "would gut protections for pre-existing conditions".

Ossoff spokeswoman Sacha Haworth said Wednesday the campaign will use Handel's remarks in "targeted messaging", though they did not specific whether that means direct mail, online advertising or other means.

Sheriff: Naked man attacks, urinates on police vehicle
Humphries was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief-property damage and one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief. A man accused of fleeing the scene of an accident was found walking naked down a highway in Marion County.

Ossoff said, "In 2012, you were discussing how you led the effort to defund breast cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood".

Handel, meanwhile, has found herself on the defensive for her tenure as a Susan G. Komen Foundation executive when the organization almost cut its support for Planned Parenthood, whose services include abortions. Handel resigned amid the controversy.

Ossoff said he does not yet know enough about the plans potential impacts on growth or deficits to offer support or not. "My record is one of results - in the private sector and in public service", she said. Handel received a congratulatory call from Trump after taking second place in the jungle primary in April. She also notes the district has been Republican since 1979. Price was easily reelected several times, but Trump carried the district over Hillary Clinton by less than two percentage points last November, fueling Democratic hopes that they can flip the district. Democrat Jon Ossoff is a political novice in a district where he would normally have no business seriously challenging Republican candidate and former Secretary of State Karen Handel.

One can attribute some of this to wishful thinking, but considering that early voting began this week at a time when President Trump's favorability was cratering, his signature health-care bill had zero chance of passing, his European trip was being widely panned and Russian Federation news was dropping daily, Republicans have plenty of reason to be nervous. "I do not support a livable wage".

Ossoff didn't answer directly at all until a moderator followed up, asking for a yes or no. He lives just south of the district, in Atlanta, a decision he says allows his fiancée to walk to her medical school classes and training.

Handel is also attacking Ossoff for not agreeing to a nationally televised debate on a cable network. "And what I'm running for is greater accountability in Washington, the ability to work across the aisle to get things done to develop metro Atlanta's regional economy so we can become an economic powerhouse".

"We just couldn't believe Trump won", Gray says.

Be Civil - It's OK to have a difference in opinion but there's no need to be a jerk.
