"It's surreal, man, it really is", Gennett said, wearing backup clothes after the others were whisked away.
As for the name "Scooter", there is a cute story behind that. Scooter Gennett, selected that day by the Brewers, did something as memorable as Strasburg and Trout have ever done, hitting four home runs in a game for the Cincinnati Reds. He was drafted by the Brewers in 2009 and began his Major League Baseball career with four seasons for that organization, but Milwaukee waived Gennett this spring to make room for Jonathan Villar at second base.
That changed when the four homers came from the most unlikely source.
Scooter Gennett has hit four home runs, matching a Major League Baseball record, and finishing with 10 RBIs as the Cincinnati Reds routed the slumping St. Louis Cardinals 13-1 on Tuesday night.
Baseball history is filled with similar performances by similar players. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Shawn Green, in 2002, went 6-6, smacking four home runs and totaling nineteen bases. Yet, no one had done it all in the same game.
The list of players to hit four homers in a game includes such legends as Lou Gehrig and Willie Mays.
Howie Kendrick had three hits, including a homer in the fourth. He had only hit three homers this season before playing against the Cardinals.
Tuesday night, Scooter Gennett became a legend.

Gennett's feat was even recognized by a familiar name from the college hoops world, Dick Vitale.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound infielder was claimed off waivers from Milwaukee during spring training for a utility role.
The left fielder began the game with three homers on the season.
"He had a career night, a great night", said Adam Wainwright (6-4), who gave up Gennett's second career grand slam. Stephen Piscotty went 2 for 3 with his solo homer accounting for the lone Cardinals run in the loss. Villar, a revelation last season who was expected to replace and be an improvement over Gennett at second, has been mired in a season-long slump, putting up a miserable.207/.281/.315 slash line with 73 strikeouts and only 14 stolen bases. Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the third for Colorado. Gennett had made history.
"I was kind of laughing, to be honest with you", Gennett said.
"I never get good results when I try to do that", he said.
Although I'd say when he swung through an 0-1 fastball, it certainly looked like he was swinging for the fences. He has earned over $4.4 million in his career.
