Summer Reading Program at library for kids

Summer performer showcase: Join the library at 1 p.m.

The event is created to highlight all the different activities and programs both organizations offer the community over the summer months.

The event features a chance for children to sign up for Summer Reading and choose a reading goal, as well as learn from the Cleveland County OSU Extension Service on planting marigolds and beans to take home and then see how they grow during the summer.

On July 11, a pool party will be held for all participants from 6:30-7:30 p.m.at the Grant Municipal Pool.

Sign up at the library for both the teens and kids summer reading clubs starting June 1 to earn rewards for summer reading through August 6.

Volunteer orientation: Those going into eighth grade or high school in the fall who enjoy working with kids can volunteer with the library this summer.

Youth 0 to18 read, track their time, and come into the library to receive prizes and participate in hands-on programming. Participants who complete a Book Bingo card can bring it into the Library, or post it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #SPLteenbookbingo2017 for a chance to win an iPad Mini or free movie theater passes!

On Tuesdays, activities for children age 7 and older are 4 to 5 p.m. Activities 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays are geared toward kids age 4 and older.

The library will also have a kindergarten readiness program, held over two sessions.

In addition, Mr. Bond, the Science Guy will be doing a program for all ages on Wednesday, July 12 at 1:30. The first session is at 10:15 a.m. June 5, 12 and 19.

The weekly programs begin the week of June 5 and continue through the week of July 3. Week three is Monday, July 24; Tuesday, July 25; and Thursday, July 27. Collect prizes until July 31 or while supplies last.
