The 11 candidates being considered for Federal Bureau of Investigation director

In an interview the day after Comey was sacked, Vice President Michael Pence said, "The President took strong and decisive leadership here to put the safety and security of the American people first by accepting the recommendation of the deputy attorney general to remove Director Comey as the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation".

If nothing else, Comey's firing reinforces the need for a Watergate-style congressional committee, or a 9/11-style commission, to investigate the Russian connection, and a special prosecutor to deal with any related criminal issues. He's been deeply involved for years in FBI efforts to fight terrorism, serving in supervisory roles in Iraq and Afghanistan and later overseeing FBI global terrorism investigations as a section chief. He said one of those discussions happened during a private dinner in January and the other two discussions were over the phone. Comey declined, instead offering "honest".

The deputy attorney general's memo cited Comey's news conference last July about the Clinton investigation, raising a "why now?" question about the dismissal.

Comey came to the job with a reputation for courage and independence.

We smell a rat in Washington, and it reeks worse than the swamp that President Trump says he wants to drain.

"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with ideal accuracy!"

Trump told Fox News he would decide in "the next couple of weeks" whether the briefings would continue.

Death And 22 Injured After Vehicle Speeds Over Pavement In Times Square
Smoke was coming out of the car's hood and the vehicle was slightly overturned on a barrier at a sidewalk in Times Square. Images on social media also showed people being taken away on stretchers and other casualties strewn around the walkway.

"I have no investments in Russian Federation, none whatsoever", Trump said Thursday in an interview with NBC News.

The White House has consistently denied having links with Russian Federation.

"Jim Comey is a man of principle and integrity", U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-8) who represents Bucks and portions of Montgomery counties said. The Democrats know they are fabricating this whole thing, but they figure this is the best way they can thwart Trump's efforts to move the country forward and out of the multiple quagmires Obama landed this country in.

Trump is considering 11 people to replace Comey, a White House official said.

And we add our voice to the loud and growing chorus of Democrats and Republicans calling for the appointment of an independent prosecutor or commission to look into possible collusion between President Trump and his campaign aides and associates and the Russians. Moscow has denied any such meddling.

"What it really means is, 'Can I count on you not to make me a target of this investigation, '" Mr Tribe said.

Seeking to bolster Trump's case that he has had no concealed dealings with Russia, his lawyers said in a letter released by the White House on Friday that a review of Trump's tax returns from the past 10 years showed no income from Russian sources outside of a few exceptions, and indicated he did not owe money to Russian lenders.
