Five Predictions for the Go Bowling 400 at Kansas

The series points leader, Bell continued to jockey with Busch throughout the second stage with Rhodes giving chase. No driver has won a few times during the six previous editions of what is now called the Go Bowling 400, though Joe Gibbs Racing (three wins) and Hendrick Motorsports (two wins) have the place more figured out than most.

The biggest incident was a three-car wreck involving Aric Almirola, Danica Patrick and Joey Logano.

"Just saying a lot of prayers for Aric [Almirola] right now", Logano said.

Safety crews at Kansas Speedway had to peel back the front windshield of Almirola's auto and help him from his vehicle after a fiery wreck with Joey Logano and Danica Patrick with just under 70 laps remaining.

NASCAR stopped the race while safety workers cut the roof off Almirola's Fusion and extricated him from the auto. He was later airlifted to the Kansas University Medical Center. Something broke on my vehicle. All I know is that I all of a sudden crashed. Teams only go through a quick safety and fuel cell check prior to practice, though they can voluntarily go through any of the four technical areas, so many don't know they're out of compliance until they're trying to get on the track for qualifying. You never know when it is going to be the wrong hit. Johnson was on the receiving end of contact when Denny Hamlin made contact with Kurt Busch.

It was clear he had a good short run auto. His fruitless one-year stopover with tiny HScott Motorsports has segued into his new fulltime ride with Stewart-Haas Racing, and he characterized the change in teams this way: "When I walked out of one building and got into the other one, it was a fun time". "I was super loose there and the No. 78 got me spinning my tires a little bit".

"Any of those restarts I could've got beat on", Truex said. It kind of stinks.

The late cautions - among the 15 during the 267-lap race where 61 laps were run under caution - made the team wonder if a win was in its destiny.

Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team capped one of its best weekends in recent memory with a fourth-place finish tonight in the Go Bowling 400 at Kansas Speedway. Points leader Kyle Larson was on Blaney's tail, followed by Truex, Jamie McMurray and Stage 1 victor Kyle Busch. Blaney, then, took the lead from Kyle Busch. "We aren't knocking enough but last week we led some laps and showed potential again".

"Awesome day", said Truex, who led a race-high 104 laps Saturday.

Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick finished 1-2 in the first two rounds of time trials-with Busch posting the fastest lap of the day at 190.624 miles per hour in the second round-but Blaney was fastest when it counted, on his third run on tires.

On the restart, Truex blew past Blaney and never gave the lead back. He also picked up an additional 17 standing points for finishing second in the first stage and third in the second. Truex and Blaney were second and third at the end of stage one, while Harvick drifted back to seventh.

Brad Keselowski made a pass on the final lap to take second, followed by Harvick and Blaney.

Earnhardt hasn't won in 33 Cup starts at Charlotte.

With both cars riding along the SAFER barrier, Aric Almirola was unable to avoid the carnage in front of him.

Keselowski, the 2012 Sprint Cup champion, became the series' first two-time victor this season when he won at Atlanta and Martinsville.

Johnson fell off the pace on a lap 100 restart, bringing out a caution on lap 101 with a flat left-rear tire. We qualified good and the pit stall was killer.
